My name Rebecca O'Neill and I am 30 and live at Forest Lake in Brisbane. I have two beautiful boys Bailey James is 9 and Jack Thomas is 9 months old. My partner David works as a Personal Trainer at Ipswich Fitness. We have been together for 3 years and have been engaged for 2. My mum Roslyn lives in Hervey Bay and my dad Denis lives in Maryborough. They are my heros. I know that sounds really corny but they are, they have just done so much for me over the years and helped me out so much when I had Bailey and was a single mum. I don't know where I would be without them. I love them so much and will always be grateful that they are my parents. I have two younger brothers Adam and Michael. I also have a beautiful younger sister Nicole who is my best friend. She and her hubby Scott live about three minutes away. They have two gorgeous daughters Georgia who is 4 and Ella is 1. I work at the PA Hospital in the Mental Health division as Receptionist.
Before I had Bailey I was a size 14-16 and was a little overweight but could carry it because of my frame and height. I was also pretty active. I used to swim alot and play netball. When I was pregnant with Bailey I put on about 10kgs but after I had him I suffered really bad post natal depression and piled on about 40 kgs and was a size 24-26. So that was the start of the cycle I ate because I was depressed and lonely.
After alot of casual dating and 6 years of it just being me and Bailey, I met David and we moved in together after only about 6 months of being together. But I dont regret it. He is such a loving and caring person. He always tells me that I am beautiful, though I have never understood why he thinks that. In April 2006 we had our Engagement party and started organising our wedding which was scheduled to be in February 2007. We had just booked our honeymoon cruise and paid deposits for our wedding when we found out we were having a baby! During my pregnancy I had really bad morning sickness and lost about 10kgs. But once again after I had Jack Thomas I suffered post natal depression again and piled on 20kgs. This is the heaviest I have ever been. I had once before thought about Lapband surgery but my doctor dismissed my thoughts saying I was healthy on the inside I just needed to excercise more.
My family came to me and sat me down and told me how worried they were about my weight. Not because they were ashamed of me but because they were worried I would have a heart attack or a stroke my boys wouldnt have a mother. So after alot of research and seeing a new doctor I decided that I wanted to have Weight Loss Surgery.
So on the 15th of February 2008, 3 days before my 30th birthday, mum and I went to see Dr George Hopkins at the Holy Spirit Hospital at Chermside. He basically said that I needed to have this operation or I would die because my BMI was so high. So I was booked in to have surgery on the 12th of March 2008. Once again Dad came to my rescue and has lent me the money so I can have this proceedure done. Mum is an absolute godsend, helping me organise everything while I'm at work and she is coming to stay for a couple of weeks afterwards to help with the boys. Words just can't explain how much I love my mum and dad.
